Girls of Peace Club win the prizes of the First Sports Forum for Girls with Disabilities
Peace Sports Club for Persons with Disability won the championship launched by the Knight Club of Palestine for Women with Disabilities entitled “the First Sports Forum for Women with Disabilities” under the supervision of the Palestinian Paralympic Committee within the 2018 initiative for women with disabilities for development and peace with the participation of 100 women and girls with disabilities on 22, 23, 25 April 2018.
On the first day of the forum, more than thirty women with disabilities participated in the Table Tennis Championship. The player Mona Kattab from Peace Sports Club for Persons with Disability won the gold medal for Women’s tennis while the player Abeer Al Horakli won the gold medal for Women’s Wheelchair Tennis.
On the second day, a sports marathon was held in the Port of Gaza in which the player Mona Hassan from Peace Sport Club for Persons with Disability won the Wheelchair Marathon Gold Medal while the player Raeesa Al Deery won the Wheelchair Marathon Silver Medal.
On the third and final day of the championship, a Wheelchair Basketball Championship was organized in Saad Sayel Hall among the participating clubs. The Girls Basketball Team won the first place and the gold medal in wheelchairs. In this way, the girls of Peace Sport Club for Persons with Disability won the prizes of the First Sports Forum for girls with disabilities.
The Chairman of the Peace Sport Club for Persons with Disability, Zarif Al Gharra, said “this day is a special day in the club history. It adds a new achievement to the achievements of the club.” He called on the players to work harder, train and persevere in order to elevate the club. Mr. Al-Gharra also thanked those who are in charge of this championship and called on everyone to pay attention to this segment of the athletes and treat them equally to their fit peers, emphasizing that women with disability suffer from marginalization and lack of psychological support services directed to them.
The last day was concluded with the ceremony of distributing medals and prizes to the participating teams, winners, and a number of sports figures and officials. the Knight Club of Palestine for Women with Disabilities thanked all the players for their efforts in making this championship successful.
