The opening matches of the wheelchair basketball league at Saad Sayel Hall in Gaza

 

Peace Sport Club won over Al-Basma team in the opening matches of the wheelchair basketball league at Saad Sayel Hall in Gaza.
The opening ceremony was attended by Kamel Abu Alhassan, Chairman of the Paralympic Committee, Jesse Market, Program Officer of the International Committee of the Red Cross, many sports figures and legal persons.
Peace Sport Club male team won over Al-Basma team with a final result (49-26). The quarter results were as the following: (16-4), (12-10), (15-1), (6-11). While Peace Sport Club female team won over Al-Jazira with a final result (12-2), scoring (8-2) in first half of the match while scoring (4-0) in favor of Peace Club team in the second half.
The games were ruled by the main referee Mohamed Aloul, the first referee Tamer Qeshta and the second referee Ahmed Zu’rob and Dr. Hani Matar, the wheelchair basketball classifier.
The league will continue on next Wednesday at Abu Yusuf Al Najjar Hall in Khan Younis where Deir Al-Balah, Al-Hilal, Al- Irada, and Al-Asdiqa team will play.

A meeting of Disability Representative Bodies Betwork with Al-Aqsa University in Gaza

Disabilities Representative Persons Network and the administration of Al-Aqsa University in Gaza discussed ways to develop the memorandum of understanding on the mechanisms of making all the headquarters of Al-Aqsa University in the Gaza Strip accessible to people with hearing, visual and physical impairments, as well as adapting the educational curricula for people with disabilities. Moreover, Al-Aqsa University showed its readiness of receiving new students.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Disabilities Representative Persons Network and the Peace Sport Club for persons with Disability, Mr. Mohamed Al-Arabi, Mr. Zarif Al-Gharra, Mr. Abdel Moneim Al-Tahrawi, Mr. Rashad Al-Jammasi, and Mrs. Wesal Abu Owdeh as well as Dr. Hassan Mahdi from Al-Aqsa University in Gaza.
The meeting comes as part of a partnership between Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation and Disabilities Representative Persons Network in Gaza in order to enhance the role of persons with disabilities in preparing the shadow report.
At the end of the meeting, the two parties stressed that the joint cooperation and the preparation of making a partnership through a joint cooperation agreement between Disabilities Representative Persons Network and Al-Aqsa University in Gaza. Moreover, Mr. Mohamed Al-Arabi thanked Al-Aqsa University for its efforts in supporting students with disabilities.

A football match during the Arab Deaf Week

Atfaluna Society for Deaf Children in cooperation with Peace Sports Club for Persons with Disability implemented a friendly football game between people with hearing disabilities from Atfaluna Society for Deaf Children and a team of people with physical disabilities and ex-prisoners in Gaza City in order to reach an inclusive sports community within the activities of the Arab deaf day.
Freedom team won over the hearing impaired team by two goals and the game was characterized by enthusiasm and strength and showed the high ability and endurance of persons with disability in the game.
Mr. Hisham Muhanna, the coordinator of the event, called on the necessity of bringing people with disabilities and their peers together in order to reach an inclusive society for all. While Mr. Gamal Farwana, the head of Prisoners’ Support Organization, said that the ex-prisoners were very happy during the game.

Girls of Peace Club win the prizes of the First Sports Forum for Girls with Disabilities

Peace Sports Club for Persons with Disability won the championship launched by the Knight Club of Palestine for Women with Disabilities entitled “the First Sports Forum for Women with Disabilities” under the supervision of the Palestinian Paralympic Committee within the 2018 initiative for women with disabilities for development and peace with the participation of 100 women and girls with disabilities on 22, 23, 25 April 2018.
On the first day of the forum, more than thirty women with disabilities participated in the Table Tennis Championship. The player Mona Kattab from Peace Sports Club for Persons with Disability won the gold medal for Women’s tennis while the player Abeer Al Horakli won the gold medal for Women’s Wheelchair Tennis.
On the second day, a sports marathon was held in the Port of Gaza in which the player Mona Hassan from Peace Sport Club for Persons with Disability won the Wheelchair Marathon Gold Medal while the player Raeesa Al Deery won the Wheelchair Marathon Silver Medal.
On the third and final day of the championship, a Wheelchair Basketball Championship was organized in Saad Sayel Hall among the participating clubs. The Girls Basketball Team won the first place and the gold medal in wheelchairs. In this way, the girls of Peace Sport Club for Persons with Disability won the prizes of the First Sports Forum for girls with disabilities.
The Chairman of the Peace Sport Club for Persons with Disability, Zarif Al Gharra, said “this day is a special day in the club history. It adds a new achievement to the achievements of the club.” He called on the players to work harder, train and persevere in order to elevate the club. Mr. Al-Gharra also thanked those who are in charge of this championship and called on everyone to pay attention to this segment of the athletes and treat them equally to their fit peers, emphasizing that women with disability suffer from marginalization and lack of psychological support services directed to them.
The last day was concluded with the ceremony of distributing medals and prizes to the participating teams, winners, and a number of sports figures and officials. the Knight Club of Palestine for Women with Disabilities thanked all the players for their efforts in making this championship successful.
